Additional Notes
Evansville building permits are processed through the combined Evansville-Vanderburgh County Building Commission. Building Commissioner Johnny McAlister Jr. Same office handles both city and county properties. Evansville is the third-largest city in Indiana and the Vanderburgh County seat. Contractor licensing required — $25,000 surety bond, $1,000,000 liability insurance, 3 hours/year CE. Starting work without permit results in tripled fees. Building Commission meets 2nd Wednesday of each month at 3:30 PM in Room 307. Floodplain permits required for development in flood zones.
